Approximately 2.7 billion pounds of U.S. sourced post-consumer plastic bottles were reported as recovered for recycling. Of this total, 97 percent was acquired by North American reclaimers, while remaining 83.1 million pounds were exported overseas. Overseas exports of U.S. sourced post-consumer plastic bottles have decreased 91 percent since 2010.
