According to a September survey, 41 percent of Italians reported having struggled to pay their energy bills within the past three months. Natural gas is among the most impacted commodities by the Russia-Ukraine war, with European wholesale prices having skyrocketed throughout the year. In countries such as Italy and the United Kingdom where natural gas is the most consumed energy source, households were particularly affected by rising energy costs.
