With a total of 220 commercial 5G services launched as of August 2022, the rate of launches has continued to decrease since 2020 after many markets worldwide have already implemented these services. Other factors include the adverse economic environment in 2022 and expensive set-up costs for 5G networks, especially standalone networks which do not build on existing 4G infrastructure, according to the source.
