According to a survey on elections in the Philippines in 2022, approximately 30 percent of respondents stated that they have not experienced vote buying, but they were certain that there would be instances based on experience. Vote buying is a strategy used by political parties to gain support before an election by offering money or other rewards to voters. In that year, around 65.7 million Filipinos were registered as eligible voters, with an addition of approximately 1.7 million overseas voters.
