Between 2015 and 2021, the number of beds in pediatric wards in China increased by more than 21 percent. Although the birth rate in China started to decline in recent years, the demands for the treatment of pediatric diseases remained at a significant level, with bed occupancy rates in pediatric wards sometimes exceeding 95 percent. To meet the demands of the patients, more children's hospitals were built in the past decade, while pediatric wards in general hospitals also expanded substantially.
