In 2022, a survey conducted in selected African countries about women's beauty perceptions showed that the majority of women in all the selected countries found it important to look good in public. The country with the highest share was Nigeria with 96 percent. It was followed by Ghana with 95 percent. Conversely, women in Senegal had the lowest share of such beliefs with 48 percent.
