In 2021, the share of people with mental health disorders in Brazil reached approximately 20 percent of the population, up from 19.4 percent reported a year earlier. The figure saw an important increase between 2019 and 2020, with the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. The mental disorder with the highest prevalence rate in the country is anxiety.
