In 2023, the sales value of imported goods at large-scale wholesalers in Japan amounted to around 27 trillion Japanese yen, declining slightly by 1.5 trillion yen compared to the previous year. The wholesale of imported goods grew significantly recently, as import prices were affected by the weakening yen.

Large-scale wholesalers include wholesale establishments for general commodities with 100 or more employees, and wholesale establishments with 200 or more employees designated by the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry.
Figures refer to the sales of goods in Japan directly imported through custom clearance under the company's names. 100 Japanese yen equal 0.62 U.S. dollars or 0.58 euros as of July 2024. Values have been rounded.Â
