Marrying and having children without interrupting one's career was the ideal course of life to one in three unmarried women in Japan, according to a survey conducted in June 2021. It was the the first time that the proportion of single women who wanted to continue working was greater than the proportion of those who preferred to take a temporary break from their careers to raise children.
