European Union Member States exported some 133,000 metric tons of waste of electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) in 2020. Roughly 127,000 metric tons of this amount contained hazardous substances. Some 36 percent of hazardous e-waste exported by the EU that year was discarded equipment containing chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs).
