According to Statista estimates, the revenue of the secondhand consumer goods market is forecast to greatly increase across all categories from the years 2022 to 2026. Apparel was estimated to be by far the largest secondhand category in 2022 with more then 50 billion U.S. dollars, a trend which was expected to continue through to 2026.

About methodology: Secondhand revenue is estimated using a Monte Carlo-like estimation that approximates, per year, how many consumers "purchase" in each of the CMO-categories and how much they would spend. The estimation of the number of consumers relies on shares taken from the Statista Global Consumer Survey and each KPI-per-category is the average of 10,000 iterations.
