According to a 2020 survey of Chinese smokers, approximately 23.2 percent of respondents said they smoked more after the coronavirus outbreak due to boredom at home. Meanwhile, 15.4 percent of respondents reduced their cigarette consumption because they believed smoking could affect their immune system.

Around 26.8 percent of the respondents were between 18 and 25 years old, 37 percent were between 26 and 35 years old, 22 percent were between 36 and 45 years old, 13 percent were between 46 and 60 years old, and 1.2 percent were above 60 years old.
Around 57.8 percent of the respondents had an annual income of more than 100,000 yuan, and around 34.8 percent of the respondents had an annual income of more than 200,000 yuan.
