English language skills of Germans 2023

In 2023, around 12.31 million people living in Germany had very good English language skills, based on their own estimation. In 2019, roughly 36.39 million people in Germany had poor or no knowledge of English. This survey asked people to Germany how good their English skills were.
The Allensbach Market and Advertising Media Analysis (Allensbacher Markt- und Werbeträgeranalyse or AWA in German) determines attitudes, consumer habits and media usage of the population in Germany on a broad statistical basis.
