In the first round of the Brazilian presidential elections, held on the 2nd of October 2022, Jair Bolsonaro was the most voted candidate in 13 federative units , while Lula won in the other 14 units. The distribution of votes shows a marked geographical division, with the PT candidate being preferred in the Northeast and incumbent president Bolsonaro gathering most votes in the South and Central-West regions.
Bolsonaro got its best result in the northern state of Roraima, where 69.57 percent of the valid ballots cast were for him. As for Lula, he was particularly popular in Piauí, where 74.25 percent of electors voted for him.
