Out of the more than 118 million valid votes cast in the Brazilian presidential elections held on the 2nd of October of 2022, Lula da Silva, candidate for the Workers' Party (PT), received roughly 57.26 million ballots, equivalent to 48.43 percent of the total. Since no candidate obtained more than half the votes, Lula and Bolsonaro, the second leading politician with 51.1 million votes, will face each other in a runoff elections. Polling surveys predict that Lula would win in a second round against incumbent president, Jair Bolsonaro.
