Out of the more than 118 million valid votes cast in the Brazilian presidential elections held on the 2nd of October 2022, Lula da Silva, candidate for the Workers' Party (PT), received 48.43 percent of the ballots. Since no candidate obtained more than half the votes, Lula and Bolsonaro, the second most voted politician, will face each other in a runoff election. Polling surveys predict that Lula would win in a second round against incumbent president, Jair Bolsonaro.
