The leading reason for frequenting a specific convenience store or konbini in Japan was that it was close by as revealed in a survey conducted in December 2021. More than 59 percent of respondents stated that they had a convenience store or a store brand that they usually visited because it was close to home, with the close proximity to train stations and the workplace following as frequently named reasons.
The Japanese konbini sector is dominated by the three main brands: 7-Eleven, Lawson, and FamilyMart. 7-Eleven won the race as the preferred convenience store.
