As of 2022, there were 120 countries worldwide with ocean-related adaptation measures in their Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs). Coastal management was the most common type of adaptation measure, being considered by 56 nations. On the other hand, only eight countries had ocean-related mitigation measures in their NDCs. These measures included renewable energy from the ocean, maritime, fisheries, and aquaculture.
