As the cost of rolling out renewable energy technologies continues to fall, the continuation of coal use is increasingly becoming uncompetitive in terms of operating costs. In 2020, savings related to replacing uncompetitive coal with renewable energy in India were estimated at two billion U.S. dollars. This figure is forecast to reach 17 billion U.S. dollars by 2025.
