Support for the legalization of cannabis for medical use in France 2022, by party

In France, sympathizers of left-wing parties are more likely than those of right-wing and far-right parties to support the legalization of cannabis for medical use. When questioned on this topic shortly before the 2022 presidential elections, the proportion of sympathizers of Jean-Luc Mélenchon's party in favor of such legalization was 27 points higher than those of Emmanuel Macron's party.
In 2021, 51 percent of the population supported the decriminalization of recreational cannabis, about twice as many as in 1977.
