As of financial year 2019, union territories had the highest share of India's surfaced roads. Among states, Rajasthan ranked first with a share of more than 91 percent of surfaced roads. It was followed by Punjab with 91.2 recent of surfaced road. In the same year, 72 percent of the total road network in India was surfaced.
