As of financial year 2019, the length of rural roads in India was more than 4.5 million kilometers. In comparison, length of district roads and urban roads was over 612 and 541 thousand kilometers, respectively. With a total road length of about 6.3 million kilometers as of fiscal year 2019, India has the second largest road network in the world.
