Policies and initiatives of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) are expected to impact wages in Côte d'Ivoire. In 2035, the earnings of women in unskilled labor would experience a slightly higher growth than men, at 14.9 percent compared to 13.9 percent, respectively. For both skilled and unskilled labor across Africa, this trend might remain the same, except in South Africa.
According to the source, impacts on relative wages are usually due to changes in the makeup of output caused by policy reforms. In May 2019, the AfCFTA agreement officially entered into force after 22 African countries had ratified it. The agreement sought to boost inter-regional trade.
