Share of hospital readmissions for mental disorders in Italy 2022, by diagnosis

In 2022, mental health patients diagnosed with severe conditions in Italy were readmitted to the hospital within 30 days in about 4.7 thousand cases, corresponding to approximately seven percent of all hospital discharges. This statistic shows the share of hospital readmissions for severe mental health disorders within 30 days after discharge, zooming in into different diagnoses. Behavioral or personality disorders were the conditions for which hospital readmissions were most frequently necessary. Within one month from discharge, in fact, about 7.7 percent of the patients suffering from behavioral or personality disorders were readmitted to the hospital.
