During the reported period, the sales volume of plant-based meat in Italy decreased from approximately 9.8 million kilograms in 2018 to just over 8.7 million kilograms in 2020. In 2020, the most popular type of meat alternative among Italian consumers seemed to be plant-based meals (e.g. burger patties, nuggets, sausages) as the sales volume was highest, reaching 7.6 million kilograms.
