The non-metallic minerals energy industry in Italy consumed 4.6 million metric tons of oil equivalent of energy in 2022. This industrial sector includes the production of cement, ceramics, glass, and concrete, among others. The final energy consumption of chemical and petrochemical, iron and steel, and food, beverages, and tobacco industries were also relevant, with between three and four million metric tons of oil equivalent consumed per type of industry.
