Number of prediabetic patients in Ghana 2019-2022, by age
Between 2019 and 2022, the majority of people in Ghana with prediabetes were aged 30-39 years. This referred to a population of over 1.44 million. Individuals aged 40-49 years followed, with the number of prediabetic patients adding up to around 1.04 million. Overall, as of 2022, the average per capita expenditure on diabetes care in Ghana amounted to 53.5 Ghanaian cedis, some 5.3 U.S. dollars.
