Brazil: spending on Facebook and Instagram posts mentioning Lula and Bolsonaro 2022

As of August 15, 2022, sponsored Facebook and Instagram posts mentioning current Brazilian President Jair Messias Bolsonaro have received around double the investment than those referencing the country's former Chief of State and again-candidate Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. In total, at least 3.1 million Brazilian reals were spent with such publications between June and mid-August. Spending on posts referring to Bolsonaro nearly reached 1 million Brazilian reals in July. Facebook and Instagram have been the most used social media platforms by political candidates in Brazil ahead of its general elections, set for October 2022.
