Monthly number of goats slaughtered for public consumption in Portugal 2020-2023
In 2022, the number of goats slaughtered for public consumption reached an average of approximately 9,600 heads per month. In November 2023, the number of slaughtered goats totaled around 5,000 heads. The figure reached its peak in March 2021 with around 27,500 goats slaughtered for public consumption. In the chart the highest number of sheep slaughtered usually corresponds to holidays months, such as December, and March, or April.
