Final energy consumption in France 2000-2020, by sector

In 2020, the highest final energy consumption in France was in the household sector, closely followed by the transportation sector. Approximately 3.8 million metric tons of oil equivalent of energy were consumed in each one of these sectors, accounting 60 percent of the total final energy consumption in France in 2020. Energy consumption in the transportation industry was around seven million metric tons of oil equivalent lower in 2020 compared to the annual average of the previous 20 years. This decline was due to the restrictions applied during the COVID-19 health crisis.
Industrial final energy consumption dropped by ten million metric tons of oil equivalent between 2000 and 2020.
