The most common line of work for victims of forced labor worldwide in 2021 was services excl. domestic work. More than 30 percent of the forced labor victims worked in this industry. Manufacturing was the second most common line of work, followed by construction. However, there are significant gender differences; roughly 17 percent of women worked in other industries which includes illicit activities such as prostitution, compared to eight percent of men. Furthermore, nearly 17 percent of women were deployed in domestic work, compared to only four percent of men.
