In France, of the public sector teachers employed by the State at the start of the 2020-2021 school year, nearly 3,000 had chosen to leave the French National Education system during the school year. This represents 741 more departures than the previous year, and more than six times as many as in 2012-2013. In 2020-2021, the most numerous to submit their resignation or request conventional terminations were public primary school teachers.
