The Amazon biome has been loosing ever more of its natural vegetation due to livestock farming. In 2020, deforestation for livestock use reached a peak of 269 million hectares. This represents nearly a three-fold increase in the period reported. Meanwhile, the area planted with crops in the Legal Amazon has nearly tripled in the same period.
