In 2022, a survey conducted in the selected African countries found that 60 percent of respondents claimed they would travel to visit friends and family during Ramadan. The country with the highest share of people claiming they would travel for the above-mentioned purpose was Egypt, with 67 percent. Furthermore, Ramadan is on the ninth month of the Muslim calendar and the holy month of fasting. It begins and ends with the appearance of the crescent moon.
