Attitudes to reducing energy consumption, use of coal and nuclear fuels in Italy 2022

The majority of the survey respondents were favorable to changes in the Italian energy policies on account of the on-going energy crisis. Almost 90 percent of respondents would be willing to reduce the energy consumption of their household.
59 percent of the respondents would accept the enhancement of coal-fired power plants as an energy source in Italy. As of 2021, the primary energy consumption in Italy from coal amounted to just under four percent of the total share.
Over 50 percent of the respondents would support a revival of nuclear energy in Italy. The public opinion on this topic has not changed since September 2021, when a similarsurvey on nuclear energy in Italy showed that exactly 51 percent of the respondents would support its return.
