A 2021 survey revealed that the proportion of consumers who were interested in using eSIM for their mobile phones differed significantly by country, with a fairly high average of approximately 16 percent answering that they "didn't know" whether they were interested. This average may be related to low consumer awareness of eSIM technology, and consumer interest had no correlation with eSIM availability per country. The top four countries with the highest consumer interest in eSIM were each from a different continent, with Brazil leading the list at about 62 percent of consumers interested. South Korea followed at around 58 percent, then Italy and the United States.
