From 2019 to 2020, the number of fatalities caused by the Cooperative for the Development of the Congo (CODECO) skyrocketed, increasing by over 1,300 percent. This corresponds with the increase in the number of attacks committed by the organization during the same period. Moreover, the increase in the number of fatalities caused by the Central Africa Province of the Islamic State matches its increase in number of attacks. On the other hand, while there was a remarkable increase in the attacks committed by different conspiracy theory extremists, there was no increase in the number of fatalities claimed by them.
