From June to July 2022, rail passenger mobility in Germany increased considerably compared to the levels recorded during the same period in 2019. This favorable scenario is due to the 9-euro monthly ticket introduced by the German government during those three months. The ticket allowed passengers to use all types of local and regional public transportation around Germany to incentivize public transit to help ease the storm from inflation amid a surge in energy and fuel prices.
