According to a survey conducted in 2021, approximately 44 percent of respondents believed that FinTech will be a strong driver of collaboration between cities in the Guangdong - Hong Kong - Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) in China. Around 43 percent of respondents were convinced that FinTech would create more business opportunities in the GBA.

The Greater Bay Area is the Chinese government's scheme linking the cities of Hong Kong, Macau, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Zhuhai, Foshan, Zhongshan, Dongguan, Huizhou, Jiangmen, and Zhaoqing into an integrated economic and business hub.
