In July 2024, nearly half of buy now, pay later (BNPL) users in the United States were likely to employ these services to make purchases that did not fit in their budget. Meanwhile, 14 percent of BNPL users were using that technology because their credit cards were maxed out. Buy now, pay later platforms provide short-term consumer credit for online or point-of-sale purchases.
