The fitness industry was severely impacted by the coronavirus pandemic as many gyms were forced to close for months on end. When they reopened, many enforced strict health and hygiene measures to ensure the safety of staff and members. During an August 2020 survey in the United States, it was found that 69 percent of respondents were confident in protocols gyms were putting into practice during the pandemic.
