After the forced closure of much of the American fitness industry during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, many users were once again able to return to their favorite gyms. During a survey discussing the reasons consumers might return to gyms in the United States, 70 percent of respondents stated that one of the reasons was to maintain their overall health, whereas 48 percent of respondents indicated their primary reason to return to the gym was to build muscle.
