In 2023, almost 1,000 hectares of land burned by wildland and forest fires in Germany. The worst wildfire season recorded in the period in consideration was in 2022, with over 4,000 burned. That year, an unusually hot and dry summer had brought scorching temperatures to many parts of Germany, with drought conditions exacerbating fire risks in the country. Two years later, as of November 2024, Germany's area lost to wildfires amounted to a total of 826 hectares.
