In the United States, there were 104,367 plumbing and HVAC contractor establishments as of 2020, most of which had less than 500 employees. Meanwhile, the smallest segment was that of HVAC-R equipment manufacturers, with just 1,672 establishments. However, the segment with the highest number of establishments with 500 employees or more was plumbing and HVAC hardware, equipment, and supplies wholesalers.
