In 2021, Nigeria was the African country attracting the highest value of early-stage startup funding deals, totaling almost 5.9 million U.S. dollars. Egypt ranked second with a total value of around 5.8 million U.S. dollars. On the continent, early-stage startup funding (before Series A and equal to or below 550,000 U.S. dollars) exceeded five million U.S. dollars only in Nigeria and Egypt.
