According to a survey conducted in mainland China in March of 2022, for more than 90 percent of respondents a fair income and job fulfillment were the most important factors when considering making a change in their career. In comparison, the ability to exceed what was expected from their job role was important to only 81 percent of the surveyed employees.

Survey question:
How important are the following factors to you when considering making a change in your work environment?
Among a total of 3,129 survey respondents, 54 percent were male, 41 percent were female, 5 percent were others;
7 percent were between 18 and 25 years, 46 percent were between 25 and 41 years, 35 percent were between 42 and 57 years, and 11 percent were between 58 and 76 years;
79 percent of respondents did professional/administrative work, 15 percent did skilled manual work, and 6 percent did semi-skilled or unskilled manual work;
97 percent worked full time.
