The lignite-fired Šoštanj Power Plant was by far the biggest carbon polluter in Slovenia in 2022, with emissions amounting to 2.7 million metric tons of carbon dioxide (MtCO₂). Ranking a distant second was Salonit Anhovo Cement Factory, which produced around 0.7 MtCO₂.
