The Voestalpine Stahl operated Linz Steel Plant was Austria's biggest carbon emitter by far in 2022, with emissions of 8.9 million metric tons of carbon dioxide (MtCO₂). The second-largest emitter that year was the Donawitz steel plant, which is also operated by Voestalpine.
