In 2020/2021, the aggregated investment value in the petroleum sector in Egypt reached almost 105 billion Egyptian pounds (5.48 billion U.S. dollars). In the reviewed period, natural gas extractions received the highest value of investments. Throughout the period, natural gas extraction accounted for around 67.9 percent of the investments in the petroleum sector compared to some 28.4 percent for crude oil extractions and oil refining.
