Optimisim for the next five years in the fashion industry remains relatively high amongst executives of apparel businesses. According to a 2022 survey, roughly 77 percent of executives were at least somewhat optimistic, which was a decrease from the previous year, but higher than 2019 and 2020 levels.

Information on the businesses of the survey participants:
80 percent had more than 1,000 employees
10 percent had 101-999 employees
9 percent had less than 100 employees
70 percent were retailers
67 percent were importers and wholesalers
40 percent were Self-identified brands
100 percent had headquarters or management offices in the U.S.
75 percent had companies with headquarters or management offices outside the U.S.
Over 50 percent sold products abroad, as well as in the U.S.
